Information for parents on how the Troop is organized
Meetings
Meetings are held every Monday from 7:30 to 9 PM at The First Presbyterian Church in Northville Downtown. At meetings, we have a highly supportive and structured program to help the new scouts learn their scout skills (life skills such as first aid, cooking, knot-skills, map-reading, etc.).
Once proficient with these, our Troop is one of the few to teach the Merit Badge topics to our scouts during our weekly meetings, which continues the support that we give them.
When they are ready to work on their Eagle Rank, we have adult counselors dedicated to that, so then they receive coaching and support for the pinnacle of their scouting career (and a huge boost to their resume).
Camp Outs
Monthly campouts: Campouts held every month, which can vary from local spots to even Hocking Hills in Ohio!
Mid-Adventures campouts: Less frequent, but more exciting. Scouts get to camp farther from home and be more adventurous.
High Adventure: Go to breathtaking places around the country, such as scuba diving. You get to view breathtaking sights and experience heart-racing activities.
Parent Involvement
We encourage parents to register and enjoy the best possible bonding experiences you could have! You too can come on the campouts and have a really engaging time while trying new challenges with your son or daughter.
Meanwhile, back at the weekly meetings, the easiest way for parents to get involved is to volunteer as a merit badge counselor. The 135+ merit badge choices allow scouts to have more options in exploring new skills and potential career choices, such as cooking, government, computers.
